Visual of the Week: Flyleaf – All Around Me

Today I’m sharing an über cool song by Flyleaf, called All Around Me

Those of you that know me, know I’ve got a rocker-chick in my soul, and this type of music speaks to me.  Yes, it’s on my iPod!  I know this music isn’t for everyone, but you might know someone who would like it – and then you can share this with them.

The lyrics/meaning behind this song really just flows from my adventure last week, that summer church camp high, and the idea that we are walking with God and holding His and each step of the way.  I CAN feel Him all around me.

LYRICS
My hands are searching for You – My arms are outstretched towards You
I feel You on my fingertips – My tongue dances behind my lips for You
This fire rising through my being – Burning I’m not used to seeing You
CHORUS
I’m alive, I’m alive
I can feel You all around me
Thickening the air I’m breathing
Holding on to what I’m feeling
Savoring this heart that’s healing

My hands float up above me – And you whisper You love me
And I begin to fade – Into our secret place
The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with You
I am alone and they are too with You
CHORUS
And so I cry – the light is white – and I see You
CHORUS
Take my hand – I give it to You – Now You own me
All I am, You said You would never leave me
I believe You. I believe.
CHORUS

Did you like the song ?  Did it grow on you?  Was it just a “bit too much”? Are you gonna share it with the yonger folk in your life? (cause you KNOW they would love it…)

    • I love how this band just keep sneaking into mainstream – and how they reach that gothic-rock group of kids that need buckets of love.
OH, and thanks for that tip on GrooveShark – I still can’t get over that it’s free!

  1. Thank you for expanding my horizons. At my age I pretty unconnected to this kind of music (?) but since I still have two children under the age of 19 it is important that I am not totally out of it when it comes to the many different contemporary music genres.
The words to the song are pretty cool.
