Well, here we are – Christmas day. Yes, it’s finally here – you’ve been working up to this for at least 30 days now. Maybe more. And Santa is finally getting a well deserved day of rest.
In many households, the stockings are down, paper is everywhere, the kids are crashing from a sugar high, grandma has on that crazy Christmas sweater and adults are busy in the kitchen getting the “big meal” ready while some of the other child-adults (typically this is the guys) are glued a sports-something on TV. NOTE: My personal opinion is that there should NOT be sports on TV unless you are a Jewish team, then I get it; otherwise let everyone be home for Christmas!
If you’re actually reading this on Christmas Day, all I have to say is BLESS YOUR HEART! Making this blog a part of your day on Christmas blows my mind… Seriously. Although, I’m really waiting to see if Jon Acuff does a post today, because he is a blog-god and I worship him to some degree.
Well, I considered not posting today, but for those of you reading – I just needed to wish you a wonderful Christmas. And for a Friday, it would only be fitting that I give you something hideously funny to watch. Enjoy!
Wow, he’s just awesome. Tin ear? Wow, now I know what to let the guy behind me at church know what’s wrong with his singing…it’s so bad he throws me off. Anyhoo, I’m not sure I could do that as well as Jim… even trying. But I just might have to attempt to pull that off so I can embarrass someone in earshot.
Alright, back to Christmas Day – Jesus was born, Immanuel – He is with us! I think that’s a quote from a Christmas movie, maybe the Bible, maybe the Angels, maybe Simeon or the prophetess Anna; I’m just not sure. But here are some quotes that I am sure of and love:
God bless us everyone! (Tiny Tim / A Christmas Carol)
Look, Daddy. Teacher says every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings. (It’s A Wonderful Life)
Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to. Don’t you see? It’s not just Kris that’s on trial, it’s everything he stands for. It’s kindness and joy and love and all the other intangibles. (Miracle on 34th Street)
I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. (Scrooge / A Christmas Carol)
My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that? (Bob Hope)
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. (Santa Claus)
